Ambassador Cruise Line German market expansion

Ambassador Cruise Line has announced an expansion into the German market through the acquisition of the Oceania Sirena from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. The 30,200-ton vessel, which carries approximately 670 passengers, will be renamed ‘Ambella’ and will operate under the new brand Ambassador Kreuzfahrten.

Under a leaseback agreement, the ship will remain with Oceania Cruises until early 2028. Starting in summer 2028, the Ambella will offer an adults-only, German-language cruise experience departing from the ports of Bremerhaven and Kiel. Its itineraries will primarily focus on Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea, with some summer voyages to Southern Europe.

In addition to commercial cruises, the company has established a long-term partnership with the Institute for Shipboard Education. During the winter months from September to April, the vessel will be chartered to Semester at Sea to serve as a floating campus. This expansion follows Ambassador’s recent integration of the French operator Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC), as the company seeks to become a leading European cruise operator for the over-50s market.
