American Idol production relocation to Georgia

Overview

Producer Fremantle has confirmed that the reality singing competition ‘American Idol’ will relocate its production from Los Angeles to the Atlanta, Georgia area for its 25th season. The move is primarily driven by Georgia’s tax incentive program, which offers a 30% credit for productions spending at least $500,000 in the state. These incentives are reportedly more accessible than California’s current requirements for unscripted content.

Fremantle is reportedly in final negotiations with a local studio complex in Georgia. The upcoming season is expected to premiere in early 2027 on ABC, with episodes available on Hulu and Disney+. The current judging panel—Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie—along with host Ryan Seacrest, are expected to return for the new production location.
