Andalusian government funding for natural area projects

In July 2026 the Andalusian authorities marked the five‑year anniversary of Sierra de las Nieves National Park with a total investment of €25.7 million. The funding, largely supplied by the regional government, has been directed toward conservation work, new visitor infrastructure and forest‑restoration programmes aimed at protecting the unique pinsapo forest while promoting sustainable tourism. Park officials also warned that climate‑driven wildfire risk demands continued staffing and careful management.

Later that month the Andalusian government announced a further €17 million earmarked for upgrades to the nearby Sierra Nevada ski resort ahead of the 2026‑27 winter season. The money will modernise snow‑making equipment, improve lifts and add new hospitality facilities, extending a broader regional commitment that has exceeded €100 million since 2019. Together, these investments illustrate Andalusia’s ongoing strategy to develop and safeguard its natural landscapes, coupling ecological preservation with tourism and sport infrastructure.
