Andhra Pradesh state development initiatives
Overview
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has initiated several large-scale development programs across the state.
In early September, the Chief Minister directed the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and the Endowments Department to accelerate the construction of 5,000 temples, with a focus on prioritizing SC and ST colonies, fishermen settlements, and weaker sections. The plan also includes the restoration of 1,000 ancient temples and potential construction of Lord Venkateswara temples in other states.
By late September, the administration expanded its focus to urban modernization, launching ₹11,359 crore in development projects across 123 municipalities and municipal corporations. This initiative is part of a broader ₹50,000 crore blueprint targeting infrastructure such as roads, sewerage, water storage, and waste management. The Chief Minister also emphasized stimulating a ‘weekend economy’ and ensuring 24x7 treated drinking water through the Jal Jeevan Mission.
