Former minister Ann Widdecombe’s body was discovered at her Dartmoor cottage on 9 July 2026, after being struck with a hammer. Surveillance footage identified 28-year-old Joshua Kerry, who was arrested in Rotherham on 11 July. He was re-arrested on suspicion of commissioning terrorist acts and formally charged with murder on 20 July.
