The marital drama is structured in four chapters corresponding to the seasons, exploring the emotional fragility and shifting identities of a provincial couple, Erika and Mauro, after their daughter leaves for university. The narrative depicts a year of solitude as Erika, a supermarket cashier, struggles with a loss of purpose, while Mauro, an electrician, faces a personal crisis following job loss. The film, which received support from Rai Cinema, the Italian Ministry of Culture, HT Film, Indigo Film, and Tenderstories, marks Foglietta’s transition from acting to directing, a move she described as a step toward “human and feminist growth.”
