Ansar Allah military advances in Yemen

Ansar Allah forces have expanded their military control along Yemen’s western coast and within the Red Sea. The group claimed control over the port city of Mocha (Al Mukha), the island of Perim (Mayun) in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and several other Yemeni islands, describing the operations as a means to assert national sovereignty.

These advances have significantly increased Ansar Allah’s influence over the strategic Bab al-Mandab shipping lane. In response to the territorial losses, Saudi-aligned forces have reportedly retreated toward Dhubab and the island of Mayun, with commanders establishing alternative command centers.

Regional reactions have been divided. An advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader described the advances as a ‘resounding victory.’ Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump reportedly rejected a request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to conduct military strikes against the group. Tensions have also manifested in infrastructure attacks, with the Saudi Ministry of Energy reporting attacks on an east-west pipeline that necessitated a precautionary shutdown.
