Antalya water management dialogue and conservation efforts
The Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATB) initiated the ‘Antalya Water Dialogue’ to address regional water security in preparation for the COP31 climate summit. The program aims to develop an ‘Antalya Water Action Plan’ to manage the pressures of drought, climate change, and population growth through strategic usage across various sectors. Initial efforts focused on agriculture and tourism, specifically targeting irrigation efficiency and water reuse. Subsequent meetings expanded During the second dialogue meeting, discussions expanded to include urban and industrial water management. Stakeholders management, serving as a precursor to a Water Summit held on September 23. Ali Çandır, President of the ATB, emphasized that water security is a matter of economic resilience “collective responsibility” and food security, aiming that the goal is to create a measurable roadmap “measurable roadmap” for sustainable future generations. Hasan Ali Gönen, President of the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, noted that managing water use to be presented globally is no longer strictly an environmental issue but a matter of “economic resilience, food security, and urban stability.” In a practical application of these conservation goals, the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) implemented a xeriscaping project at COP31. its service building garden. The project utilizes drought-resistant plant species and controlled irrigation zones to minimize consumption. ATSO Chairman Yusuf Hacısüleyman described the initiative as a concrete step toward resource management, stating, “Protecting water is not a matter of today, but a matter of the future.”
