Anthropic has secured multiple large-scale agreements to expand its artificial intelligence compute capacity through diverse infrastructure providers. In August 2026, the company signed a six-year, $10 billion contract with Volta Infra Holdings to utilize a 133-megawatt data centre in Norway. Developed alongside Bitdeer Technologies Group, the facility will use NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin GPUs under the NVIDIA Partner Cloud program. Volta, a startup founded in early 2026 by former Brookfield executives, has raised $300 million in venture funding. Norway was selected for its stable geopolitical environment, abundant electricity, and cold climate. Shortly thereafter, Anthropic entered a 20-year agreement with Riot Platforms to provide computing capacity at its Rockdale, Texas, campus. This deal, valued at approximately $9.1 billion initially with potential extensions up to $16.1 billion, involves 191 megawatts of IT capacity. Deployment is scheduled in stages, with the first 96 megawatts expected to be operational by December 2027 and full capacity reached by June 2028. To support this, Riot secured $573 million in financing from Morgan Stanley.
