Anthropic has secured multiple large-scale agreements to expand its artificial intelligence compute capacity through diverse infrastructure providers. In August 2026, the company signed a six-year, $10 billion contract with Volta Infra Holdings to utilize a 133-megawatt data centre in Norway. This facility, developed alongside Bitdeer Technologies Group, will utilize NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin GPUs. Norway was selected for its stable geopolitical environment and cost-effective electricity. Shortly thereafter, Anthropic entered a 20-year agreement with Riot Platforms to provide computing capacity at its Rockdale, Texas, campus. This deal, valued at approximately $9.1 billion initially with potential extensions up to $16.1 billion, involves 191 megawatts of IT capacity. The agreement represents a strategic pivot for Riot Platforms as it diversifies from Bitcoin mining into AI infrastructure services. To support this project, Riot secured $573 million in financing from Morgan Stanley. Deployment is scheduled to occur in stages, with the first 96 megawatts expected to be operational by December 2027 and full capacity reached by June 2028.
