Apartment building fires in Czechia
Overview
Two separate incidents involving apartment building fires were reported in Czechia.
In late September, a fire originating in a first-floor apartment on Francouzská Street in Prague necessitated the rescue of eight people via aerial ladders. The blaze led to the hospitalization of a woman and a firefighter, and caused significant local transit disruptions, including the closure of Francouzská Street and the diversion of several tram lines.
In late October, a fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building on the outskirts of Broumov in the Náchod district. Emergency services rescued four people, while four others evacuated independently. Six residents required treatment for smoke inhalation, including two minors. Damages from the Broumov fire are estimated at approximately 1.5 million CZK.
