Apartment fires in Belgrade

Overview

In mid-October 2026, two separate apartment fires occurred in different municipalities of Belgrade.

On October 19, a fire broke out on Bežanijska kosa in Nikola Dobrović Street, reportedly caused by an unattended cigarette on a ground-floor terrace. A 50-year-old man sustained burns and cuts while attempting to extinguish the flames. Firefighters evacuated the building due to thick smoke but successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other units.
