Apple TV+ original programming expansion

Overview

Apple TV+ continues to expand its original programming library across various genres, including comedy, drama, science fiction, and suspense. The platform is increasingly emphasizing a strategy centered on high-caliber, critically acclaimed series and films to attract and retain subscribers. Unlike many competitors, the service primarily hosts its own original productions.

Recent and ongoing highlights include the comedy ‘Trying’, which has reached its fifth season, as well as engagement-driving titles such as ‘Ted Lasso’, the sci-fi series ‘Dark Matter’, and the thriller ‘Slow Horses’. Other additions to the catalog include the comedy ‘Brothers’, the thriller ‘Last Seen’, and the action-thriller ‘Lucky’.

Upcoming releases scheduled for late 2026 include the six-part comedy series ‘Small Prophets’, written and directed by Mackenzie Crook, set for release on October 7. The crime drama ‘Nocturne’, starring Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham, is slated to premiere on October 30. Additionally, the culinary documentary series ‘Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook’ is scheduled for a global release on November 6, following Nora Lum as she explores Asian-American gastronomy.
