The Arbitrum (ARB) token has transitioned from a period of technical resistance to a significant price surge, driven largely by activity on the Robinhood Chain. Following a rally in early September, the token saw gains between 45% and 120%. Most recently, ARB experienced high volatility, surging nearly 50% to approximately $0.1972 before undergoing a sharp correction. This movement was accompanied by a massive spike in trading volume, reaching $607 million in a 24-hour period. The growth is linked to the Robinhood Chain, which launched on July 1, 2026, using Arbitrum Orbit technology. Under the Arbitrum Expansion Program, Robinhood shares 10% of its net protocol revenue with the ecosystem—8% to the Arbitrum DAO and 2% to a developer guild. The chain has already generated substantial licensing fees for the Arbitrum DAO treasury. The revenue model has triggered a debate regarding incentive alignment. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko criticized the structure, arguing that Robinhood profits from network congestion. In response, Offchain Labs co-founder Steven Goldfeder defended the model, stating it allows application builders to act as ‘landlords’ by retaining approximately 90% of net revenue. Recent developments show the Robinhood Chain is emerging as a leader in daily fees, generating $2.13 million in a 24-hour period. Analysts at Bernstein forecast the network could generate up to $160 million in annual fees by 2028, fueled in part by tokenized stock trading, which now represents roughly 27% of the chain’s volume. However, this expansion has drawn criticism from AMC Entertainment Holdings CEO Adam Aron, who called the tokenized stock offerings ‘outrageous’ and stated the company would seek an investigation from outside securities counsel. Further expanding its ecosystem, Robinhood has entered a multi-year agreement with OG.com, a prediction market platform spun off from Crypto.com.
