In the Elbe Valley near Belgern-Schildau, a settlement dating from the 3rd to the 5th century AD was found, featuring multi-aisled longhouses and evidence of textile production. Additionally, in the Leipzig district, construction work uncovered a monumental Neolithic burial site associated with the Baalberger culture, consisting of a large trapezoidal complex with circular pits, including one containing a seated human burial.
