The 16th annual Architecture Day festival is scheduled to take place from October 1 to October 6, 7, featuring nearly 500 events across more than in over 100 towns and municipalities in cities across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Operating under the motto ‘I live, dwell, therefore I am’, am,’ the event festival focuses on housing as a fundamental critical societal issue, exploring the evolution of its impact on urban spaces, public life, and social relationships. The program examines various living spaces forms, ranging from historical tenement houses, villas, and worker colonies to socialist-era housing estates and modern residential projects. The festival aims functionalist villas to spark discussions regarding housing accessibility, the transformation of urban landscapes, modern experimental projects and collective housing. Specific highlights include the quality of public spaces. Programming includes functionalist Molochov complex in Brno, the Nový dům colony in Pisárky, and notable villas in Humpolec, Kutná Hora, and Olomouc. In Prague, guided tours, lectures, debates, walks will feature lesser-known modernist sites, such as the 1981 brick high-rise complex at Bohdalce. The event also commemorates anniversaries for Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Tomáš Baťa, and workshops. the Václav Havel family. In the Czech Republic, specific events will cover locations such as Bílina, Most, Louny, Litvínov, Lom, and Žatce, examining topics ranging from historical worker colonies to modern architectural works. In Slovakia, Trnava will host its first Architecture Day at the Creative Center Trnava, while Bratislava continues work on a 1:3000 scale interactive 3D physical model of the capital, intended capital for installation by 2027 to assist in the Metropolitan Spatial Plan. In Brno, developments extend beyond the festival to major infrastructure projects, such as the T Aréna. This Aréna multifunctional arena at the Brno exhibition grounds is nearing completion and is expected to be handed over for use on October 25. Designed for approximately 13,000 spectators, the facility includes modern technological infrastructure VIP skyboxes, a press center, and digital networking coordinated by T-Mobile.
