Argentina child rights initiatives

In early October 2026, the Argentine Secretariat of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family held a sensitization event at Plaza Belgrano to promote children's rights. The initiative, which coincided with the National Day of the Rights of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, featured a spring parade by children from the Herminio Arrieta Child Development Center to raise community awareness regarding state protection services.

By late October, the province of Santa Fe expanded these efforts by inaugurating the ‘Polo de la Niñez’ in Rosario. This 2,600-square-meter facility, located at the intersection of Santa Fe and Sarmiento, is designed to provide 24/7 immediate assistance to minors whose rights have been violated. The center aims to provide a centralized location for intervention, preventing minors from having to repeat their testimonies to multiple different agencies following incidents of violence.

Secretary Daniela León described the center as a way to restore rights and provide a more adequate working environment for professionals compared to previous administrative structures. The facility employs an interdisciplinary team of approximately 190 professionals, including doctors, psychologists, social workers, therapists, and lawyers, and will serve Rosario and several localities in the southern part of the province.
