In early August 2026 Argentine prosecutors expanded their scrutiny of high‑profile figures. On 5 August, an accounting audit of former cabinet chief Martín Insaurralde led to a money‑laundering probe that also implicated models Sofía Clerici and Jésica Cirio, whose alleged lavish spending is being examined against declared income. Prosecutors sought testimony from Insaurralde’s sons and continued to review bank and property records.

Two days later, on 7 August, investigators turned to a separate case involving the December 2022 murder of former Catamarca minister Juan Carlos Rojas. Prosecutor Hugo Costilla ordered the summons of 214 ministry employees after forensic analysis showed that Rojas’s computer files were deleted two days after his killing, and security‑camera timestamps had been altered. The inquiry aims to identify who accessed the building, altered documentation, and whether the missing records could reveal a motive.

Both probes illustrate a broader wave of political and criminal investigations in Argentina, targeting alleged corruption, financial misconduct, and possible evidence tampering linked to senior officials.
