Talleres de Córdoba’s struggles in the Torneo Clausura continued into late August 2026. Following a 0-0 draw against Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero, Talleres officially announced the termination of Sampaoli’s contract on 30 August. His tenure lasted only seven matches, resulting in one victory, two draws, and four defeats, earning just five points and leaving the club at the bottom of Zona A. The club’s board confirmed that Sampaoli and his technical staff would be paid only up to their final day of work. Sampaoli expressed his disappointment on social media, stating, ‘Sometimes things do not work out,’ and noting that he stepped aside ‘for the good of the club.’ He added that while he had long desired to manage in Argentine football, the pressure of the situation led to his departure, remarking, ‘It is sad. For the good of the club, that leads me to step aside.’ On 1 September, Talleres ~~has not yet named a permanent successor, though Eduardo Berizzo has been reported~~ appointed Omar De Felippe as ~~a primary candidate.
