Overview

Legal proceedings regarding the seizure of assets linked to the Kirchner family have entered a period of judicial review. Following convictions in the ‘Vialidad’ corruption case, the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation upheld the preventive seizure of 13 properties connected to the Los Sauces and Hotesur companies, rejecting appeals from Máximo and Florencia Kirchner.

Prosecutors have proposed the auction of 111 properties to cover approximately US$ 645 million in debt, with additional requests to seize 141 properties, 46 vehicles, and over US$ 5.6 million in cash belonging to Florencia Kirchner.

While defense teams argue that the children’s assets should not be seized as they were not convicted, previous rulings have maintained that the funds constitute part of the ‘criminal object’. The execution of these seizures currently remains in a state of judicial limbo as the Argentine Supreme Court reviews a complaint appeal filed by the defense.
