Separate incidents of alleged and proven misconduct involving municipal employees have been reported in Argentina.

In Nogoyá, two employees of the Economic Development and Production Directorate were reported to the judiciary for alleged identity theft and fraud. It is alleged that the individuals used the personal data of a colleague to register as employers within the national ‘Fomentar Empleo’ program. This maneuver reportedly caused the victim to accumulate a tax debt of approximately 3 million pesos.

In Junín, a municipal employee, Emiliano Ávila, was sentenced to one year in prison after admitting to the embezzlement of public funds. The investigation determined that fuel valued at approximately 20 million pesos was stolen through a coordinated effort. While Ávila has been sentenced, six other employees face potential prison terms, and local authorities have indicated that high-ranking officials were not involved. Recent judicial reports have confirmed the conviction of several municipal employees in Junín regarding this fuel embezzlement case.
