Argentine volunteer firefighter equipment support

Overview

In San Francisco, Argentina, volunteer firefighters launched the ‘Grassland and Stubble Fire Fighting Program’ to bolster equipment for rural fires. This initiative seeks grain donations, such as wheat, soy, or corn, from the agricultural sector, with companies like Cargill and AGD acting as intermediaries.

Following these efforts, the Cargill Foundation committed over $65 million through September 2026 to support volunteer firefighter corps across several Argentine regions, including Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, La Pampa, and Santiago del Estero. These funds are designated for various needs, such as acquiring forest fire trucks, water tankers, and 4x4 rapid attack trucks, as well as providing operational assistance and infrastructure improvements.
