Aris BC defeats Le Mans 87-74 in EuroCup opener

Overview

Aris BC opened its 2026-27 BKT EuroCup campaign with an 87-74 victory against Le Mans Sarthe Basket at the Antares Arena in France. Despite an early deficit where Le Mans led by as many as 13 points (28-15) in the first quarter, the Greek club staged a significant comeback to secure the win.

Coach Vassilis Spanoulis noted that while the team struggled with nerves and ball movement early in the match, they improved through defensive pressure and rebounding. He expressed satisfaction with the team’s ability to adjust to their own standards, noting they successfully transitioned from individual play to a more cohesive unit.

Key performances included I.J. Liddell, who led the scoring with 19 points and 8 rebounds, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Vassilis Toliopoulos also contributed 13 points to the victory. The result marks a successful debut for Spanoulis on the EuroCup bench and places Aris at the top of Group A. Following this away victory, the team is looking toward upcoming domestic league matches and their next EuroCup fixture against Bourg.
