AS Roma and Serie A tactical developments

Discussions regarding Serie A have focused on tactical comparisons and individual player performances. Roma striker Donyell Malen noted that Italian football often utilizes more compact defensive blocks compared to the Premier League, while expressing confidence in his scoring ability alongside Inter captain Lautaro Martínez.

Assessments of AS Roma have highlighted both potential and challenges. Former sporting director Walter Sabatini described the team as a determined unit capable of competing for the Scudetto, though he noted that injuries, particularly the absence of Manu Koné, have impacted midfield composure. Additionally, former striker Marco Borriello commented on Malen’s scoring record and the player's potential impact in other major European leagues.

In recent competitive action, AS Roma secured a 4-2 victory over Cagliari to maintain third place in Serie A, trailing leaders Lazio by four points. Despite an early penalty from Cagliari’s M'Bala Nzola, Roma responded with goals from Emanuele Lulli and Niccolo Pisilli to lead 2-1 at halftime. After Daniel Maldini equalized for Cagliari in the 63rd minute, Roma secured the win with an 85th-minute header from Rodrigo Mora and a final goal from Malen.

The victory, which extends Roma's unbeaten home run in Serie A to 17 matches, highlighted the impact of academy products Lulli and Pisilli. However, the club faces further injury concerns, as Paulo Dybala is expected to miss the Champions League fixture against Manchester United due to a calf injury.
