Assassination of Samajwadi Party leader in Prayagraj

Overview

Pawan Kumar Yadav, a Samajwadi Party district secretary and former village head, was shot and killed in the Hundia area of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The attack occurred on a Tuesday afternoon when three assailants on a motorcycle approached Yadav as he was returning to his vehicle. One attacker shot Yadav in the back, and he was later declared dead upon arrival at Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital.

Following an investigation involving CCTV footage, Prayagraj Police arrested three suspects: Lalla Yadav, Brijesh Yadav, and Nihal Ali. Police identified Lalla Yadav as the prime accused, who reportedly confessed to planning the attack due to a personal dispute with the deceased. Authorities seized the motorcycle used in the crime, along with two illegal firearms and live ammunition.
