Assault on woman and father in Pyrgos

Overview

In early September 2026, a 36-year-old woman and her elderly father were attacked with clubs by two masked men at their residence in the Agia Varvara area of Pyrgos, Greece. The attackers initially damaged the woman’s vehicle before striking the victims. The woman sustained fractures to her arm and leg, while her father suffered head injuries. During the assault, the father identified one of the attackers as the woman’s 26-year-old former partner.

Following the incident, the suspects fled, and a criminal case was filed for domestic violence and causing dangerous bodily harm. On September 18, police arrested the 26-year-old suspect in the village of Kampos following a warrant issued by the Ilia prosecutor. The suspect faces multiple charges, including domestic violence, serious bodily harm, and weapons law violations. Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate the suspect's 25-year-old accomplice.

Reports on September 19 indicate that the 26-year-old suspect had previously evaded police during a transfer. He remains facing charges for the violent attack that caused the woman a broken arm and the father head injuries.
