Astronomical discoveries of radio transients and X-ray/star-

Overview

Astronomers have identified several unusual celestial phenomena through radio and X-ray observations. Initial findings included the identification of a Long-Period Radio Transient (LPT) designated GLEAM-X J0704−37, which emits pulses every 2.9 hours from a binary system of a red dwarf and a white dwarf. Additionally, researchers identified 84 hypersoft X-ray sources (HSS) in nearby galaxies, such as Andromeda, which emit low-energy X-rays that were previously difficult to detect.

Subsequent research led to the discovery of a binary neutron star system, PSR J1856-0039, using the FAST radio telescope. This system, with a mass approximately 2.488 times that of the Sun, offers new data for testing general relativity. Astronomers are also investigating VT J1906+0849, a radio transient located at least 49,000 light-years away that has maintained high brightness in the radio spectrum for roughly two decades while exhibiting unexpected changes in peak emission frequency.
