Attack on Persib Bandung U-18 academy team

Overview

On the night of October 11, 2026, the Persib Bandung U-18 academy team bus was attacked and looted at the KM 360 Rest Area in Batang, Central Java, while returning from a match against Garuda United in Solo. The incident resulted in vehicle damage, the theft of suitcases belonging to players and officials, and physical violence against at least two personnel, including a media officer and a staff member. Attackers are suspected to be a group of rival supporters, with social media footage allegedly showing individuals wearing colors associated with Persija Jakarta.

In response, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) and I. League condemned the violence as a “criminal act” and urged law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation. Persija Jakarta captain Rizky Ridho expressed condolences and condemned the violence against the young players. Following the attack, management at PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat condemned the violence and initiated legal action, while also calling for calm among their supporters to prevent revenge. The Chairman of The Jakmania issued a public apology, stating the incident was wrong and expressing support for the legal process. As of October 16, The Jakmania is preparing internal sanctions; Chairman Muhammad Aditya Putra stated that members proven to be involved could face membership card revocation, while regional branches could face suspension or freezing. Regarding potential federation discipline, The Jakmania leadership argued that Persija Jakarta should not face point deductions, contending that PSSI regulations regarding spectator misconduct typically apply to incidents within stadium perimeters rather than off-site locations. On October 20, Batang Police Chief Kombes Pol. Warsono confirmed that three suspects, identified by the initials BPA (33), HH (26), and MF (26), have been named and are being processed based on witness statements and CCTV footage.
