Grover Norquist, director of the National Rifle Association representing Americans for Tax Reform, characterized the incentive as a “shakedown” and a “new way to tax American success,” arguing that companies should negotiate without government intervention. Amidst this growing diplomatic and economic tension, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is scheduled to visit the United States in September.
