Avery Styles professional wrestling career

Overview

Avery Styles, the 19-year-old son of Hall of Famer AJ Styles, officially signed with TNA Wrestling following his debut at the Lockdown 2026 event. AJ Styles noted that the move was intended to provide his son with essential television experience, specifically regarding managing strict timing requirements for televised broadcasts.

Following the signing, a controversy emerged regarding Avery’s conduct at a GCW event, where critic Arik Cannon suggested the young wrestler failed to assist with ring crew duties such as setting up chairs. AJ Styles defended his son, stating Avery was present to wrestle rather than serve as ring crew. AJ Styles later dismissed the online debate on X as ‘the most ridiculous thing that was ever talked about on X.’

During a podcast appearance, Cody Rhodes observed that the widespread defense of Avery by other wrestlers indicates the respect the performer has earned within locker rooms, suggesting that second-generation wrestlers should be afforded a level of grace due to their specialized upbringing.

Recently, AJ Styles made a rare in-ring appearance at an Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment event to defend Avery from a post-match attack following a match against Jones. Addressing criticisms that Avery’s wrestling style too closely resembles his father’s, AJ Styles stated on the ‘What Do You Wanna Talk About?’ podcast that his son will eventually develop a unique identity, noting that most wrestlers begin by imitating idols before transitioning into their own characters. Avery is scheduled to make his TNA debut at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 11 in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.
