AWS Lambda service expansions

Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced new capabilities for its Lambda serverless platform. Initially, the company announced Lambda Web Functions, a compute primitive designed to handle HTTP requests directly. This feature enables developers to run standard code, such as Express or Hono frameworks, to support workloads like AI inference endpoints and microservices by paying for active CPU time and memory rather than idle time.

Following this, AWS announced the general availability of the AWS Lambda Durable Execution SDK for Go. This SDK facilitates the creation of resilient, long-running, multi-step workflows by providing automatic progress checkpointing and the ability to pause execution for up to one year while awaiting external events.
