Bafana Bafana AFCON qualification campaign

Overview

South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana, has commenced its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign under head coach Pitso Mosimane.

The campaign began with an opening match against Guinea at the Orlando Amstel Arena. Following a 2-1 victory in that fixture, the team is scheduled to face Eritrea in a Group D match on 30 September. Because Eritrean stadiums do not meet international standards, the match will be held at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt. The game will be televised by the SABC.

Coach Mosimane faces selection difficulties for the upcoming match due to injuries to Teboho Mokoena and Aubrey Modiba.
