Law‑enforcement actions across the Balkans intensified through late 2026, targeting cannabis production and cocaine trafficking. Following earlier seizures in Crete, Mani, and Fthiotida, operations expanded into northern and island regions. In late July, a high‑speed chase in the Drama region led to the arrest of three suspects. On 1 August, Greek authorities in Mytilene detained a Turkish shipowner linked to a multi‑national network involved in trafficking more than two tonnes of cocaine. In Western Macedonia, police arrested 13 people in late July and early August for cannabis possession. Operations on Greek islands continued with arrests in Santorini, Rhodes, and Mykonos, where authorities dismantled syndicates and seized MDMA, pink cocaine, and cocaine. In late September, two individuals were detained in Sekirnik, North Macedonia, after authorities discovered a cannabis plantation containing approximately 680 kg of drugs. In Greece, enforcement continued through October. In Agia Varvara, two men were arrested following a raid that uncovered cannabis hidden in a kitchen compartment. In Messenia, five Turkish nationals were arrested for a criminal organization involved in cannabis cultivation, with estimated illegal profits exceeding 200,000 euros. In Patras, two men were detained after a package from France containing 2.49 kg of cannabis was intercepted at Athens International Airport. In Western Lesvos, police seized over 17 kg of cannabis buried in vegetation. In Thessaloniki, a ring targeting youth via Telegram and cryptocurrency was dismantled, while in Chania, a 48-year-old woman was arrested for using a registered business to distribute prohibited cannabis derivatives online. In early October, the Hellenic Coast Guard intercepted a Croatian-flagged yacht near Chios, seizing 360.7 kg of raw cannabis valued at approximately €1.08 million and arresting two Ukrainian nationals.
