In late July 2026, Turkish educators highlighted Balıkesir as an attractive destination for university applicants, emphasizing the city’s quality of life, modern campuses and cultural assets. Prospective student Mustafa Canbey promoted Balıkesir University and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, while Dr. Talip Emiroğlu urged young people to pursue career‑driven projects rather than merely securing employment.

A few days later, in early August 2026, Balıkesir University announced a hiring drive for 309 contract staff to fill health‑related positions, including nurses, technicians, psychologists and other support roles. Applications were opened through the President’s Career Portal, with the recruitment aimed at alleviating staffing shortages at the university hospital and boosting regional employment.
