Bandai and various Japanese retailers continue to announce diverse merchandise releases for popular media franchises. Following the release of Heart’s 30th anniversary ‘4D Gummy Tamagotchi’ products on September 21, 2026, Sanrio and Bandai will launch a space-themed Tamagotchi 30th anniversary collaboration at Thank You Mart, featuring 31 items such as stationery and lunch boxes, with pre-orders beginning September 30. Retailer Avail is expanding its character lineup with several themed collections starting October 3, including ‘Poppy Playtime’ merchandise featuring Huggy Wuggy and CatNap, ‘Panda! Go, Panda!’ items, and Disney-themed scarves and ponchos inspired by ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. Earlier, on September 26, Avail scheduled the release of Sakura Wars merchandise, such as zip hoodies and acrylic stands, alongside Sanrio Characters goods featuring Halloween-themed Lolita and punk devil styles. Chiikawa merchandise is also expanding. Beyond voice-enabled plush sets at Shimamura Park scheduled for mid-October to early November, the franchise will debut new character mascots in October 2026, including a raccoon mascot in a sweatshirt and characters eating meat buns. A Chiikawa Sushi series will also see sequential releases. Furthermore, GU has announced a winter-themed collaboration for late November 2026. The first wave, featuring sweat pullovers and hoodies priced at 2,990 yen, will arrive in late November, followed by a second wave of loungewear on November 27. Heart Co., Ltd. is also scheduled to release Chiikawa-themed Christmas items on October 26, including ‘Christmas Sweets Socks’ and ‘Toy Cake Cans’. Other upcoming releases include Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya Licht series goods available for pre-sale at the Machi Asobi vol. 31 event in October. Bandai is ~~also~~ expanding its Gashapon ‘merujishi accessories’ line with a Sanrio Characters ‘Baby’ themed series in the second week of October and a Kirby series featuring die-cast metal charms in the final week of October.
