Bari legal partnership and community projects

In late July 2026 the Metropolitan City of Bari announced two linked initiatives. On 26 July it unveiled a cross‑border food‑market programme for Albania, funded with €1.63 million to support small producers, create cooperatives, a farmers’ market and a Food Waste Hub in Tirana, and aid vulnerable citizens. The same event included the signing of a “Accordi di Legalità” protocol with civil‑society groups (Libera, Avviso Pubblico, Arci Bari‑BAT), allocating €100 000 to build a network across Bari’s 41 municipalities aimed at promoting legality, transparency and crime prevention, especially for youth.

Three days later, on 29 July, the focus shifted to the implementation of the “Accordi di Legalità” programme. The €100 000 fund will support the creation of territorial legal presences, a metropolitan observatory on legality, and the repurposing of confiscated assets into youth‑focused training and community hubs. The announcement also linked the local effort to the national “Officine Libere” project, funded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, which similarly seeks to transform seized assets into tools for social regeneration through participatory design with NGOs.

Together, the snapshots trace Bari’s rollout of a multinational food‑security project and a parallel domestic legal partnership aimed at strengthening civic engagement, reducing waste, and converting confiscated resources into community benefits.
