Beach volleyball tournaments in Rio de Janeiro
Overview
Beach volleyball competitions were held at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, featuring both the Brazilian Circuit from July 22 to 26 and the FIVB World Tour from July 29 to August 2.
During the international tournament, intense wind gusts damaged the arena structure, including knocking down a transmission tower. This forced officials to halt matches and close the venue to the public for one day to ensure safety. The event was subsequently reorganized through a partnership between Volleyball World, the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV), and VôleiRio, which included expanding the number of courts to accommodate the competition.
