The Beatles’ 1965 album Rubber Soul will be reissued on 2 October 2026 in multiple configurations – standard CD/LP, 2 CD/2 LP, a Super Deluxe 4 CD/5 LP box and a Blu-ray edition – following an announcement by Universal Music Group and Apple Corps. Producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell have used modern demixing technology, developed by Emile de la Rey’s WingNut Films, to create new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes from the original four-track tapes. The set also includes the original mono master, the 1965 Capitol US version, and the double-A-single “Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out”. The Super Deluxe edition adds 24 early session recordings – 20 previously unreleased takes, three home demos and the never-heard John Lennon demo “Little Girl” – plus an 88-page hardbound book with a Paul McCartney introduction and a foreword drawn from Lennon’s words. The “Little Girl” track, a two-minute-17-second acoustic guitar sketch, was discovered by Martin in Lennon’s personal archive while reviewing material provided by Sean Lennon. Additional archival content includes early versions of “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It ~~Out”, including~~ Out”. This includes a folk-style “Day Tripper” demo by Lennon that lacks the song’s iconic riff. A recently shared “songwriting work tape” for “Day Tripper” captures Lennon and McCartney working at Lennon’s house with acoustic guitars, featuring audio of the duo laughing and discussing the recording. The release is positioned as a high-resolution celebration of the album’s historic shift toward album-oriented artistry, preserving its legacy while offering contemporary listeners enhanced audio fidelity.
