The murder trial of former NSW police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon has continued in the NSW Supreme Court in Sydney. Lamarre-Condon faces charges including two counts of murder and one count of aggravated break and enter related to the February 2024 deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies in Paddington. Prosecutors allege that Lamarre-Condon developed an obsession with his former partner, Baird, which led to stalking and the planning of the murders. The Crown claims he entered the residence disguised as an Uber Eats rider to commit the killings and later disposed of the bodies in surf bags. Evidence presented includes CCTV footage of the accused purchasing a large surfboard cover two days before the killings, during which he allegedly asked a friend if a person would fit inside the bag. Witnesses testified that Baird was “petrified” of Lamarre-Condon and hesitant to report his behavior to authorities due to the accused’s status as an active police officer. In contrast, the defense maintains that Lamarre-Condon acted in self-defense. Defense barrister John Stratton SC argued that the accused entered the home to retrieve personal belongings, such as jewelry, while wearing a motorbike helmet and high-visibility clothing to avoid recognition. The defense contends that the fatal shootings occurred during a struggle when Baird seized Lamarre-Condon’s firearm, causing it to discharge. It is further alleged that during a subsequent encounter, Luke Davies pulled the trigger, fatally shooting himself.
