The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) initiated disciplinary proceedings against Beşiktaş striker Dušan Vlahović following a derby match against Fenerbahçe. The investigation focused on allegations of improper behavior and gestures directed at Milan Škriniar. Beşiktaş criticized the process as “unacceptable,” arguing that Vlahović was provoked and questioning the objectivity of VAR and television broadcasts. Following the disciplinary decision, which resulted in a one-match ban and a 100,000 Turkish Lira fine, Beşiktaş announced legal action against journalist Tahir Kum. The club alleged that Kum leaked the details of the suspension on social media before the official notification was received. Beşiktaş stated the premature leak could harm investors of the publicly traded club and maintained its intent to appeal the suspension. Beşiktaş has further characterized Kum as a “paid executor” who published the decision approximately one hour and 40 minutes before official club notification. The club maintains that the journalist targeted the player to harm the organization. Amidst the dispute, Beşiktaş coach Dušan Alimpijević expressed pride in Vlahović, stating the player “represents us Serbs” and emphasizing the importance of character within the team.
