Belchior 80th anniversary tributes

Overview

Various media and cultural institutions in Brazil are hosting events to honor the life and legacy of musician and poet Belchior on what would have been his 80th birthday.

Canal Brasil organized a programming marathon including the series ‘Alucinação’, which explores his journey from Ceará to his rise as an artist, and the documentary ‘Belchior – Apenas um Coração Selvagem’.

Additionally, Rádio Cultura Brasil hosted a special titled ‘Coração Selvagem – Belchior 80’ featuring archival interviews and testimonials. In Rio de Janeiro, a second edition of the book ‘Viver é melhor que sonhar: os últimos caminhos de Belchior’ was launched, chronicling his period of seclusion in Uruguay and southern Brazil. This event also provided a preview for a film adaptation directed by Eduardo Albergaria, slated for release in December.
