In late July 2026, 28‑year‑old Russian visitor Lyudmila Turkova Konstantinova vanished in Belgrade after arriving for a two‑week holiday. Surveillance footage captured her entering a rented apartment in the Borča neighbourhood with a 25‑year‑old Turkish citizen identified only as K. E. ~~The following morning, K. E. was seen leaving~~ Within about 85 minutes the ~~building~~ suspect left the flat carrying a large ~~suitcase. Police recovered the~~ suitcase, ~~containing Turkova’s body, from the Vizelj canal near Padinska Skela~~ allegedly after ~~a police‑trained dog, Aki, located it. Investigators concluded that K. E. killed~~ strangling Turkova ~~inside the apartment, allegedly by strangulation~~ with a piece of clothing, ~~placed~~ placing her body in the suitcase and ~~dumped~~ discarding it in the ~~canal.~~ Vizelj canal near Padinska Skela. A police‑trained dog, Aki, located the suitcase, and Turkova’s body was ~~found~~ recovered on 31 July, five days after ~~she sent a~~ her final message to her mother. K. E. was ~~arrested on 29 July~~ intercepted at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport on 30 July while attempting to ~~leave Serbia~~ board a flight to Istanbul and was placed ~~under~~ in police ~~detention for up to 48 hours.~~ detention.
