Bengaluru party crime crackdown

Overview

In early July, Bengaluru police arrested five men accused of raping a woman at a birthday party, marking a high‑profile sexual assault case in the city.

Later in the month, authorities from the Central Crime Branch Women’s Wing conducted a night‑time raid on a private villa in HSR Layout where an illegal rave was being held. The operation, organized via the “Amigos” app, resulted in the arrest of three organizers, seizure of banned hookahs, e‑cigarettes and large amounts of liquor, and a case against the villa owner for violating regulations.

Both incidents illustrate a pattern of intensified policing against party‑related offenses in Bengaluru, ranging from sexual crimes to violations of licensing and drug‑related statutes.
