The wave of violence that began with attacks on 12‑13 July in Otukpo LGA has continued to intensify. Throughout late July, suspected Fulani herders carried out coordinated assaults across the Idoma‑speaking Benue South area, hitting villages such as Akpachi (Ugboju), Nobi, Ondo and Ankpechi. Official counts now put the death toll at nearly 60, with numerous injuries and looted food stores. The raids have forced thousands of residents to flee, creating a growing displacement crisis. On 28 July, armed herders stormed the Efeyi community in the Ugboju district of Otukpo, killing at least 13 13‑14 people and leaving injuring several missing.
