An 18-foot skiff departed from the village of Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island for a halibut fishing trip and was reported overdue on Sunday night. The vessel capsized in the Bering Sea, resulting in the deaths of two crew members, including the boat’s captain. Search and rescue operations were initially hindered by poor weather and limited visibility. On Monday afternoon, a U.S. Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircrew located a 15-year-old ~~survivor~~ survivor, Derek Parker ~~Aghnaanga~~ Aghnaanga, clinging to the overturned vessel approximately four miles east of the island.
