Biopharmaceutical manufacturing expansion in Songdo
Overview
Biopharmaceutical manufacturing capacity is expanding within the Songdo Bio Cluster in South Korea.
Celltrion has renewed its European Medicines Agency (EMA) Good Manufacturing Practice (EU-GMP) certification for its drug substance and drug product production facilities at its Songdo campus. This renewal supports the company’s goal to increase total production volume at the site by approximately 15% this year, driven largely by its third plant which began commercial production in late 2024.
Concurrently, Daewoong Pharmaceutical has opened an advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility at the Yonsei University International Campus in Songdo. This site is designed to produce stem cells and immune cell products for clinical research. The company intends to link this new facility with its existing Yongin Bio Center to bridge the gap between research and clinical application.
