BP natural gas production and investment in Egypt
Overview
BP has commenced natural gas production from the Fayoum 4 well in Egypt’s West Nile Delta. The project, which reached production approximately two years ahead of schedule, delivers roughly 80 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to the domestic market by utilizing existing infrastructure.
Following this success, BP and Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources are strengthening their partnership through a $700 million investment program to increase production. The current drilling program includes the movement of rigs to the ‘Gharab’ exploratory well, with subsequent plans to drill two deep-water exploratory wells through the joint venture company Archius.
