The National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) has issued updated timelines for the 2026 National Teacher Exam (PND). Initially, the institute rescheduled the release of registration confirmation cards to September 9. Following this, a deadline of September 19 was established for graduates of teaching degree programs (licenciatura) to complete a mandatory Student Questionnaire via the official Inep portal. Authorities have advised participants to complete this process well in advance to avoid potential issues such as “internet instability, platform unavailability, or difficulties with password recovery” near the deadline. As the exam date approaches, officials have confirmed that the Prova Nacional Docente (PND) 2026 will be administered this Sunday, September 20, across more than 800 municipalities in Brazil, including the Federal District. Often referred to as the ‘Enem for Teachers,’ the assessment targets graduating students and graduates seeking to enter public basic education careers. For the 2026 edition, 625,954 candidates have registered. The exam is scheduled to take place across 806 cities and has a 5.5-hour duration. The structure includes a General Teacher Training component 30 objective questions and a Specific Component consisting of one discursive question regarding general teaching formation, followed by 50 multiple-choice objective questions based on case studies. a specific subject area. Candidates are required to present an official photo ID and use a black ink pen in a transparent material. Recent data indicates significant expansion in the program's reach. The 2026 edition has secured participation from 23 state education secretariats and 2,007 municipalities, representing 85.19% of Brazil's federative units and 36.03% of its total municipalities. This municipal participation marks a 33.09% increase compared to 2025. While most capitals are participating, Palmas is the only capital that will not adopt the PND for its teacher selection processes. Amazonas, Ceará, Goiás, and the Federal District have not yet confirmed state-level registration. In a related development, the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas program is offering monthly scholarships of R$ 1,050 to eligible students.
