Brazil aviation infrastructure development
Overview
Brazil is undertaking various initiatives to upgrade its aviation infrastructure through both state-level investments and federal concession programs.
At the state level, Mato Grosso do Sul is investing R$ 45 million into the Santa Maria Aerodrome to expand its runway and install safety equipment for instrument-based operations. Similarly, in Santa Catarina, the Ismael Nunes Airport has been authorized for a R$ 3.3 million modernization project involving a new passenger terminal and runway lighting.
On a national scale, the Brazilian government has launched a roadshow to present concession projects for Brasília International Airport and ten regional airports to investors. This initiative, part of the AmpliAR program, seeks to secure approximately R$ 2.06 billion in private capital to modernize terminals and increase connectivity in the country’s interior. An auction for these concessions is scheduled for December 17, 2026.
