Brazil charity initiatives

In July 2026 Brazil observed Charity Day, a national holiday that promotes solidarity through actions such as food‑bank donations, hospital visits and support for vulnerable groups. The day highlighted the work of NGOs like the Banco de Alimentos, which redirects surplus food to those facing hunger, and cited research linking charitable acts to improved mental health.

A few weeks later, on August 1, 2026, school‑based charity projects were carried out in Londrina and São José dos Campos. The Hoftalon nas Escolas program provided eye examinations and free glasses to about 150 children, while the Hamburgada do Bem event offered recreation, dental care and meals to roughly 300 disadvantaged children, mobilising around 200 volunteers.

Together, the snapshots show a shift from a nationwide celebration of generosity to concrete, localized health‑focused charitable actions within Brazilian schools.
