Brazil education initiatives 2026‑27

In late July 2026 Brazil closed the first stage of its 2026 Basic Education Census, requiring schools to submit enrolment, class, staff and infrastructure data through the Educacenso system. After the deadline, municipal, state and Federal‑District managers will verify and correct the entries before sending certified data to the National Fund for Education Development for Fundeb distribution calculations. Final census results are slated for release on 1 February 2027, with a second stage on student performance beginning the same day.

A day later, the Ministry of Education announced that the 25th Brazilian Science and Engineering Fair (FEBRACE 2027) will accept student project submissions until 20 October 2026. The call invites projects from elementary to technical schools, with the fair scheduled for 15‑19 March 2027, aiming to promote school‑based research and innovation.

Both actions reflect Brazil's broader effort to gather comprehensive educational data and to stimulate student participation in scientific research ahead of the upcoming academic year.
